Supply Chain Cost Optimization (SAP focused)

Many companies are currently suffering from increased costs and a drop in demand. Rising interest rates on the often increased inventories are cost drivers. Uncertainties in the supply chain and recurring disruptions are worsening the situation.

Active supply chain management offers corresponding levers for short-term cost reduction and liquidity release, particularly in the following areas:

  • Production & production planning

  • Inventory management

  • Logistics execution (transportation & warehousing)

This workshop presents tried-and-tested methods of how companies can realize short-term savings, reduce inventories and increase their liquidity. The focus is on the necessary strategic and tactical analyses and decisions, as well as the implementation of the corresponding settings in ERP/SAP.

Contents:

  • Portfolio Optimization: How can excess product variety be effectively managed as a primary supply chain cost driver (e.g., through phase-out, standardization)?
  • Service Level Differentiation: How can you ensure strategic fit without adopting a "one-size-fits-all" approach (e.g., by defining customer and product segments)?
  • Inventory Allocation: What are the best practices for determining optimal stock levels across a warehouse network (e.g., local and/or central approaches)?
  • Production Strategies: How can push and pull strategies be effectively implemented, and where should decoupling points be placed for maximum efficiency?
  • Forecasting: What steps can be taken to improve forecasting accuracy and to optimize safety stock levels (including FCA, FVA, and FCB measures)?
  • Inventory Parameters: What adjustments are necessary in an ERP system to better align with lead times and safety stock requirements?
  • Supplier Management: How can supplier interface management and collaborative planning be optimized (e.g., through consignment warehouses or VMI)?
  • Transport Optimization: How can you improve load utilization rates, streamline 3PL procurement, and optimize route planning and tender management processes?
